Are you looking for an internship/work experience opportunity in crowd funding, events, marketing, media or communications? Develop your skills with The Welcome Dinner Project and gain professional experience, as well as help make a real difference in communities across Australia through being part of a dynamic team leading our upcoming crowd funding campaign. The campaign will be run nationally throughout November 2017 and although the team leader is based in Sydney, the roles are mostly online and we will accept applications from people residing anywhere in Australia. We are looking to recruit the team immediately, to begin work on 25th September 2017.


The Welcome Dinner Project is looking for enthusiastic team members to manage all aspects of our up-coming campaign.The roles are described below. The positions will work with our Digital Marketing Lead who will offer mentorship and guidance and oversee the team.

  Role: Average hours/week (between 25th Sept and 5th Dec 2017):   Responsibilities:
Campaign Manager 12 – Be first point of contact for campaign queries
– Lead and manage campaign logistics
– Manage other team members
– Lead an implement campaign planning, implementation and post report
Social Media & Comm.s Coordinator 5 – Develop and implement social media schedule to support campaign
– Reach out to like minded brands/supporters to share campaign content
– Campaign emails and updates – schedule, send and report
Digital lead 5 – Create and update campaign micro website
– Source and manage digital resources for campaign
Graphic designer 3 days (one-off) – Create campaign collateral and assets incl. social, website creative, email assets, posters, flyers, shareable assets
PR and partnerships 5 – Reach out to media for coverage
– Organise media stunts/events x 3
– Reach out to relevant partners as campaign supporters – local organisations to host events etc
Task force champions x n 5 – Task force of volunteers to be like a “street team” for the campaign. Promoting is online, in communities etc.

 Desirable criteria:

  • Studying Marketing, Communications, Design, Media, Social Work, Community Development or related course
  • An excellent communicator with strong writing skills and enthusiasm for crowd funding and campaigning
  • A flair for creating written and visual content, using programs such as Photoshop or Canva and content management systems
  • Digitally savvy and quick to learn new tools and programs
  • High attention to detail  
  • Shares a passion for the vision of The Welcome Dinner Project and can confidently articulate its principles, philsophy and values in social communications



At the completion of the campaign, you will be able to confidently add some of the following skills to your CV and work experience (according to the relevant aspects of your role within the team);

  • Lead and manage a crowd funding campaign
  • Create customised content for online and social media use
  • Develop and manage strategy independently
  • Manage digital reporting and analyse results to make data-led decisions
  • Manage multiple stakeholders and be a support in cross-functional teams
  • Event coordination
  • PR and marketing to a broad audience
