Who we are: The Welcome Dinner Project is an initiative of non-profit organisation joiningthedots which brings together newly arrived and established Australians over potluck meals in local homes. The Welcome Dinner model has proven time and time again to successfully connect people through their common humanity. With over 200 dinners, the project is now in its 3rd year and is thriving on a national level.
The Welcome Dinner Project is run almost entirely by a team of over 300 volunteers, with part-paid State Coordinators around the country and a head office in Sydney.
About the role: This is initially until the end of 2017, with the potential to evolve into a long-term role based on achieving KPIs and securing relevant funding for the role.
The Partnerships and Sponsorship Coordinator’s principal role is to work together with the Board of Directors and other team members to drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic Sponsorship and Partnership plan for the Welcome Dinner Project, which aligns with joiningthedots vision and values. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating and maintaining external relationships, working to obtain monetary and in-kind sponsorship and explore sustainable funding opportunities, including social businesses. The Coordinator will also liaise with our grant writing and crowd-funding teams to oversee a comprehensive sustainable funding strategy.
The Partnerships and Sponsorship Coordinator will work regularly with other members of the Welcome Dinner Project staff and volunteers and external organisations, often making initial enquiries and communicating with potential partners, therefore strong interpersonal skills are essential. The position is particularly suited to someone who has PR or fundraising experience, with a proven ability to manage collaborative partnerships and elicit sponsorship opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be someone who:
- Is passionate about bringing together newly arrived and established Australians and creating more connected and cohesive communities
- Has the ability to procure sponsorships and build comprehensive partnership plans, including managing MOU’s
- Displays strong written skills and attention to detail, as well as effective organisational skills
- Competent with using Microsoft Office and Google applications
- Is available to work 12 hours over at least 2 different days a week in Sydney
- Takes initiative and is innovative
This exciting role will provide you with experience in; community development and social movements, the not-for-profit sector, volunteer management, fundraising, PR and partnerships. Because we are a young social movement, you will gain VERY hands on experience.
