Welcome finds a home in Toowoomba!

by Dec 29, 2016

The Toowoomba chapter of the Welcome Dinner Project hit the ground running with the first home dinner on 19th March 2016. Toowoomba’s WDP Coordinators Emily and Darren worked tirelessly to ensure the inaugural Welcome Dinner was a huge success and a wonderful experience for all in attendance.  Since then, three beautiful home dinners have been held with great hosts, plus a community Welcome Dinner hosted by the USQ Toowoomba campus and a BBQ hosted at Queens Park, Toowoomba to reconnect with friends made at the events that had previously been held in Toowoomba. We also recently held a  facilitator training workshop where we added another SIX facilitators to our team in Toowoomba. Thanks to our Queensland Coordinator Libby Blom who travelled to Toowoomba to lead the training.

The Community Welcome Dinner at the University of Southern Queensland had almost 50 students attend (unfortunately some left before the group photo). Big thank you to Darren Burton, Emily Gentle and their two volunteer facilitators Ali and Kahdem whose help and assistance made this event possible. The start of a great partnership with the university.

2017 is set to be a great year for the Welcome Dinner Project in Toowoomba, with such an awesome team! If you live in Toowoomba or have family or friends in the area please ask them to register via this website today.
